THE EUROPEAN SOLIDARITY CORPS

Through The European Solidarity Corps, Gimle hosts 4 volunteers for a 12 month period starting from August/September or January. The volunteers’ task is to run Gimle’s Café, The Raven, day by day, help in the kitchen and assist with Gimle’s other events. During their stay they learn Danish, work on personal projects and are a big part of the Gimle family. The European volunteers live together in a house in Roskilde. Read more about our project here.

WHAT IS THE EUROPEAN SOLIDARITY CORPS?

The European Solidarity Corps aims to foster solidarity in the European society, engaging young people and organisations in accessible and high-quality solidarity activities. It offers young people opportunities to show solidarity, express their commitment to the benefit of communities and help resolve challenging situations across Europe. At the same time, these young people have the opportunity to develop their skills and get some invaluable human experience in the process. The European Solidarity Corps builds on the achievements of more than 25 years of European programmes in the fields of volunteering and youth, especially on the experience of the European Voluntary Service.

INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS

WHAT IS GIMLE?

Gimle is a music venue and the cultural café, The Raven. Gimle hosts more than 300 events annually, primarily concerts, but also comedy, spoken words, jam sessions, children’s events and much more. All events are run by Gimle’s 150 engaged volunteers. Without volunteers we would not have Gimle. As an international volunteer you will become part of a young community consisting of a mix of Danish and international volunteers and hopefully build a lot of new friendships.

INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER SHIFTS AT THE RAVEN

Gimle’s Café, The Raven, is run by 5 European volunteers, who are volunteering at Gimle for 1 year and living together in Roskilde. They are responsible for the café. As an international volunteer, you assist them behind the bar in the café with 4-hours shifts Tuesday to Saturday from 8 p.m. until midnight.

BONUSES

Besides becoming part of a great community, you will be served a free meal and drinks on every shift.
If you have at least 3 shifts per month, you will also get a Gimle card, which gives you free entrance to all concerts and a great discount on food and drinks when you are here as a guest.

If you want to hear more about your opportunities as a volunteer, please do not hesitate to contact our international volunteer coordinator on internationalvolunteer@gimle.dk or stop by The Raven.
